You wake up one fine day and find – OMG – a pimple or two sprouting on your face! Though natural and commonly experienced by young people, it is still a disaster.
Acne looks bad, and spoils the smoothness of your skin. It can also leave long term marks. It occurs because of food and impurities, stress and irregular bowel movements. Another cause is changes in hormones when skin oil or sebum gets trapped at the roots of hair follicles. As the oil has no route to escape, the follicle expands and becomes painful. After a while, it may burst.
There are several forms of acne. If the trapped oil is covered by skin, it looks like a whitehead. Sometimes it becomes black, showing clearly on the skin, which is called a blackhead. Or acne may appear as small pink pimples that are sensitive to touch, or are a tender red at the base with a small yellow pus formation visible on the surface. These pustules and cysts are not only painful but may leave permanent marks after they burst. When they occur on the face, they can ruin the beauty and looks of a person.
Acne is a common affliction, affecting almost three-fourths of people from adolescence to around the thirties. When the first signs of pimples and acne become visible, you can take some preventive steps that are easy to follow. Since it is caused by oil accumulation, young people are advised to avoid fried and greasy foods. Patients are also asked to avoid stress. Pimples should not be touched or tampered with, which is not only painful but make them difficult to go away.

Avoiding oily and fried food and going for baked food also helps.
Washing hands and face regularly helps keep the skin clean. Sometimes the blockage occurs with dead skin cells and the condition heals itself when the blockage is removed by regular cleaning.
